THE YEAR IS 1977
Voldemort has not attacked. The Wizarding World is not at war. Not quite yet, anyway, but there are stirrings of one to come. People are missing, others are turning up dead. Families are being slaughtered. So why hasn’t the Ministry taken any kind of notice?
Because the attacks are too far apart for them to be forced to acknowledge it. Five bodies so far in six months, and two missing persons. People are still happy, life is still going on normally for almost everyone, why should the magical community have to acknowledge it as an attack on their world? After all, it would only cause uproar and panic for the Ministry to try and calm. There might not be any connection whatsoever, for all they know. So far, there’s no legitimate proof that these societal disturbances are even tied together. At the moment, they’re merely being treated as the expected crime count, all with separate criminals committing the acts. As long as they can, the Ministry will control the way the Prophet releases the information on these bodies. They will hide the evidence to support the claims of an upcoming war. As long as they’re able to, they will sweep the danger under the rug, so to speak.
Though, some people are noticing. Most are oblivious to the events surrounding them, whether by choice to remain ignorant or not, but there are some people who are paying attention to the rise on these body counts, and the similar circumstances of these deaths and disappearances. Some choose to stay out of it, practically siding with those who choose not to acknowledge it, like the Ministry, and expect it will all die out soon enough. Others, however, recognize that this is a legitimate threat against the magical community and are preparing to take a stand against it when it comes.
Two new groups have risen up to do just that, the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters. These are the victims of war. These are the people taking a stand. The fate of our world rests in their hands, and this is their cautionary tale.
Before it’s too late, which side will you choose to be on?
CAUTIONARY TALE.
